UK post-doctoral entomologist Dr. Paul Lenhart attended the 13th International Symposium on Ecology of Aphidophaga in Freising, Germany, with help from a competitive International Organization for Biological Control young scientist travel award. Dr. Lenhart presented on the effects of toxic aphids on their natural enemy communities; work which was conducted at UK. The presentation received the best presentation award, which covered travel to the meeting.

Congratulations to all the winners in the Entomology competition at the 2016 Kentucky St. Fair! The winners are on display in 4-H's Cloverville exhibt at the St. Fair, August 18-28, 2016. On Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Raven Run Nature Sanctuary, the U.K. Forest Entomology Lab, along with the Forest Health Research and Education Center and Lexington Parks and Recreation, are hosting an event to showcase efforts to combat the Emerald Ash Borer, an invasive beetle that is killing ash trees in Kentucky. The free program will include presentations, activities, and hikes for kids and adults. Events will begin at 9:15am and continue until 12pm. For more info, download the flyer for the event.

Congratulations to Dr. John Obrycki who has been selected as the next Bobby C. Pass Research Professor at the Univerisity of Kentucky Department of Entomology. Dr. Obrycki will hold this position from July 1, 2016-June 30, 2020. The Bobby C. Pass Research Professorship was established in 2006. By naming a senior faculty member in the Department of Entomology as the Bobby C. Pass Research Professor, the legacy of Dr.

Congratulations to Dr. Mike Potter and Dr. Nick Teets who were both honored with 2016 awards from the Entomological Socirty of America (ESA). Dr. Potter is the winner of the 2016 ESA Recognition Award in Urban Entomology, and Dr. Teets is the winner of the 2016 ESA STEP Research Award. The awards will be presented at this year's International Congress of Entomology in Orlando, Florida. You can read more about the awards at the ESA website.

UK Entomology graduate student Sydney Crawley won first place for her presentations at the American Mosquito Control Association (Hollandsworth Prize) in February and the National Conference on Urban Entomology in May. Congratulations Sydney!
