Comparative in vitro replication and serial passaging of BMNPV in the DZNU-Bm-12 and other cell lines. International Journal of Scientific and Research Publications, 3:3.1-3.3.
Origin: this cell was developed from ovarian tissue of commercial variety “Kolar Gold” of silkworm, Bombyx mori; Growth characteristics: Doubling time = about 36 and 24 hr; Karyology: chromosome number was near diploid at initial passages and slightly increased at 176th passage, but a few tetraploids and hexaploids; Unique properties: the BmNPV was serially passaged in this cell line for five times.
