Mitsuhashi, J. (1989). A continuous cell line from a beetle, Anomala costata Hope (Coleoptera, Scarabaeidae). Journal of the Japanese Forestry Society, 71(12), 491-496.
Morphology: cells are polygonal in shape, and their diameters are about 15 µm; cells looked like epithelial cells and formed cell sheets; Growth characteristics: population doubling time ~4.5 d; Karyology: diploid; Unique properties: population mostly consisted of cells which had many large vacuoles in their cytoplasm; Authentication: distinguishable from other insect cell lines by the isozyme patterns of isocitrate dehydrogenase (ICD), malic enzyme (ME) , phosphoglucose isomerase (PGI) and phosphoglucomutase (PGM).
