Lee S.-H., & Hou, R. F. (1992). Establishment of a cell line derived from embryos of the diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella (L.). Journal of Invertebrate Pathology, 59(2), 174-177; Shih W.-S., & Hou, R.F. (1994). Ultrastructural changes in a cell line from Plutella xyistella treated with Bacillus thuringiensis delta-endotoxin. Chinese Journal of Entomology, 14, 471-481.
Morphology: cells of various types with the spherical cells predominating; Karyology: cultured cells are polyploid with a chromosome number ranging from 20 to 180; Growth characteristics: doubling time = 27 hr; Authentication: isozyme profiles of this cell line are different from other silkworm cell lines: viz., Bm-N and Bm-0; Unique properties: ultrastructure changes when treated with Bacillus thuringiensis delta-endotoxin.
