University of Kentucky Entomology was well represented at the North Central Branch (NCB) of the Entomological Society of America Meeting that was held in Madison, Wisconsin from March 18 to 21, 2018. Our Linnaean team (Sarah Meierotto, Josiah Ritchey, Lauren Fann, and Ryan Kuesel), got better with each round and finished in 2nd place. They qualify for the ESA competition to be held in Vancouver later this year. A check for $2500 will help to defray their costs. Sarah Meierotto won the new Triplehorn Pinning Challenge that requires the competitors to accurately curate 12 insect specimens in 15 minutes. Sarah Preston and Christoph Kositzke placed in their respective student poster competitions. Amanda Skidmore and Christoph had won travel awards to attend the NCB meeting. Congratulations to all, including all of the other students who gave excellent presentations.
